About Amman Bab
An accessibility and assistive-technology expo in Amman, built to open doors.
A gate, by name
Bab (باب) is the Arabic word for gate or door, a word every Arab city knows from its old gates. A gate is a way in: an opening, a threshold, an invitation. That is exactly what accessibility is, so the fair carries the name Amman Bab, in Arabic باب عمان, the Gate of Amman.
The name also states the ambition: to make Amman the place where the region's accessibility community walks through that gate.
Why we exist
Assistive technology is advancing quickly, but events where you can see it, try it, and compare it are still rare in the Arabic-speaking region. Amman Bab is built to close that gap: a recurring expo that brings accessibility innovation to Jordan and the wider Middle East.
The model is proven: the leading assistive-technology fairs abroad pair a vendor exhibition with a talks programme. Amman Bab follows that model, adapted to the region, bilingual in Arabic and English from day one.
Education is half the point
A fair is more than booths. Through workshops and presentations, Amman Bab wants to educate, people with disabilities discovering what technology can do for them today, and the general public understanding what accessibility means and why it matters.
The first edition
The first edition is deliberately intimate: around 15 to 20 vendors, a full talks programme, and free entry for every visitor. Dates and venue in Amman will be announced.
